Miss Velvetina is a Winner!!

After the final hands-on judging in the Australian Creative Design Awards I am proud and honoured to announce that Miss Velvetina Water Vole won the "Best Miniature Design and Workmanship Excellence" trophy!!
Here I am holding it, together with the gold "Nominee" award.My little water vole is making a new home for herself in Australia - and I am completely thrilled and delighted with this prestigious win! :0)

The Australian Creative Design Awards

Here is "Miss Velvetina Water Vole" my miniature entry in the Australian Creative Design awards (ACDAs) as organised by Bear Artists Online based in Australia. The 2011 theme was for an imagined Beatrix Potter character, and so I created a tubby little water vole - an endangered native species in the UK,but a rodent which would have been very familiar to Beatrix herself. I am very proud, and delighted, to say that Miss Velvetina was chosen as one of the ten nominees, and went through to hands-on judging. You can see all the wonderful entrants here and you can vote for one piece as "The People's Photographic Choice" until 4th June, 2011.

All of the competition entries will be available to adopt over at the online show, BAO from Wednesday 1st June to Sunday, 5th June - please follow the link here and on my sidebar, left.The final winners will be announced on Sunday, 5th too! "Missy Belle"

I was absolutely thrilled to hear that I have received a nomination for "Missy Belle", in the Miniature Artist Bear Dressed Category of the very prestigious Golden Teddy Awards, as organised by Teddy Bear Review magazine, USA. She is a 3" Vintage Long Pile bear, dressed in a southern belle style with an organza, antique lace and silk ribbon dress. Voting details will be given shortly in the magazine and online.

British Bear Artist Awards 2010

I am absolutely delighted to have received nominations for this year's Awards in cat 1 ; Single Miniature Bear, and cat 10; Group of Miniatures.
The final judging will take place at The British Bear Fair, Brighton Racecourse on 12th December - hope you can come along!

Teddy Bear Artist Event Exhibitor's Challenge.

I was absolutely delighted and honoured to receive not only 3rd place for my entry in cat' 2 "In The Nursery"(as voted by visitors), but also the Organiser's Choice award ; chosen from all of the challenge entries.I received the lovely shield shown here with my piece; "Nursery Friends" consisting of a 2.5" bear with her 2 playmates; a tiny lilac teddy, and a teeny pink duck.
I had a wonderful weekend , and many thanks are due to the fantastic collectors whom I met on the sunday , and Samantha Potter and her family who organise the show.I'm already looking forward to next year!

25th Anniversary Celebrations

I was delighted to create 3 exclusive , One of a Kind bears for Teddy Bears of Witney in Oxfordshire, for their upcoming 25th Anniversary event on Sunday 18th April. All 3 bears will be appearing on the day together with their own special micro-friend.So as not to spoil the surprise I've disguised "Willow" (above) with just a hint of filter in Photoshop. To see all 3 inches of him in the fur you'll need to join the party!

Sydney Teddy Bear Fair People's Choice Awards- Nominations!

I was so excited to hear that 2 of my bears have been nominated in the Sydney People's Choice Awards. The first is "Marianne" (3") in the Artist Bears under 6" category , and the second ; "Cherish"(3") in the Fantasy or dressed Character Bear of any size.

British Bear Artist Awards 2009

I was delighted to receive the happy news that "Party-Time Tiffany" (above) has been nominated on the shortlist of 6 for the British Bear Artist Awards , in the Single Miniature Bear Category.
I'm looking forward to an exciting day in Hove on 13th December , where the final judging will take place at Hove bear Fair .

I'm delighted to add that Tiffany won the 2nd place award !

Award winning Bears !

I was absolutely delighted to win the 1st place award ;Single Miniature Bear ,at The British Bear Artist Awards in Hove on the 23rd November , with "Lily" (2.5" sitting - pictured above)

I also gained a 3rd place in the Group Miniature Bears category with an ensemble entitled "Golden Celebration" to commemorate my parents' Golden wedding anniversary , comprising two 3" bears and a 1.6" cupid .

I am delighted to be taking part in the "Be My Valentine" International , 24 hour online show with the Teddy Bears and Critters Australasia group .They not only showcase some wonderful artists' work but also support the Free the Bears Fund Inc rescue charity . The show takes place on 14th February 2009 ; there will be a special "booth" for Bobo (the group's adopted Cambodian Sun Bear) where the monies from all the pieces donated by the participating artists will go to the charity.

Above is my donated piece , "My Friend and I" ; a 3.2" bear with his ultrasuede bear friend - they will only be available during the show .

Moon Bears Charity Auction

At the close of the month long auction for China Bear Rescue charity , which was held by Abracadabra Teddies shop in Saffron Walden UK , I was delighted to hear that "Coral" ( 3" bear above) had raised the magnificent sum of £300 - all of which will benefit the beautiful Moon bears in Asia . Thank you to all the bidders for their huge generosity !
